Resoft WindFarm

In assessing the visual impact of potential wind farm developments, ASH design + assessment use Resoft WindFarm (Version 3) to establish a Zone of Theoretical Visibility (ZTV). This indicates those areas of land from which the proposed wind farm might appear as part of a view, and provides a means of identifying potential receptors (viewers) in order that impact assessments can be undertaken.

In using Resoft WindFarm (Version 3), ASH is able to analyse, design and optimise a proposed wind farm. ASH are also able to incorporate other wind farm proposals into the software to aid the identification of cumulative visual impacts where receptors would be able to view more than one wind farm as a result of combined, successive or sequential visibility.

ASH's capabilities in this field using such software extend to:

• Use of high powered flexible graphics capabilities, including bitmap handling and digitising from the screen
• Creation of detailed zone of theoretical visibility images including cumulative impact assessment from a number of wind farms
• Creation of planning quality photomontages with realistic turbine graphics including cumulative impact and animations
• Display of 3-D wire-frame views of multiple wind farms and the landscape
