Sloy to Inveraray 132 kV Line

As part of their strategic planning for the transmission network, Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) identified the need to reinforce the electricity grid between Inveraray and Sloy. Their purpose was to develop and maintain an efficient, co-ordinated and economical system of electricity supply.

Sloy to Inveraray 132 kV Line Development

In November 2001, ASH design + assessment was appointed by SSE as project environmental advisers. ASH managed the environmental team and co-ordinated inputs from a number of specialist sub consultants including ecological consultants, (work included: surveys of habitats and mammals, and ornithology), and archaeologists. Work involved:

  • Consideration of alignment options
  • Selection of a preferred option
  • Carrying out an environmental impact assessment for the preferred alignment
  • Production of an environmental statement

Sloy to Inveraray 132 kV Line Environmental Statement

The environmental statement for the Sloy to Inveraray 132 kV Line proposal was published in Summer 2003. The Scottish Ministers approved the scheme in 2005. SSE retained ASH as their environmental advisors throughout the implementation of the scheme and construction works were completed in 2007.
