Queen Square Design
The ASH Queen Square design not only addressed the key issue of level changes but also derives its strength through emphasizing and modulating the change in a central series of serpentine steps.
Proposals to use natural and durable paving materials such as granite setts, yorkstone paving and slate met with approval from both the developer and the City Council. Lighting from buildings and up-lighting to trees ensures the square remains an important part of a vibrant nightlife focused on the bars, restaurants and cafes.
The completed Queen Square scheme forms an important modern civic space within Liverpool city centre in keeping with the civic the tradition of its grand neighbours.
