The ASH office study trip 2007 was a little closer to home this year. Staff battled against the elements at the end of June to visit the 100MW Glendoe hydroelectric scheme near Fort Augustus on their annual study trip.
ASH design + assessment has been involved in the Glendoe hydro scheme since the outset, providing:
- Environmental advice during the design development of the scheme
- Preparing the Environmental Statement
- Auditing the environmental elements of the scheme on site for Scottish and Southern Energy.
ASH project director Jennifer Skrynka, and ecologist Dr Mary Elliott, gave a guided tour around the scheme which includes a 1km length rock filled dam, 17 intakes, a cavern power station, buried pipelines, over 12km of tunnel, and new and upgraded tracks, all located within the Monadhliath Mountains.
The hydroelectric scheme is due for completion in 2009.
