ASH design + assessment has been involved in marine and coastal developments for the past three decades both in the UK and abroad. These have varied from feasibility studies for resort developments in Malta and Gozo, major water frontage redevelopments in Liverpool, Manchester and Dundee, through to quayside business parks and residential developments in Grangemouth and Liverpool.

ASH design + assessment have also played a lead role in the award-winning marine and coastal scheme at Belfast Harbour, for which ASH carried out environmental impact assessment and masterplanning.

Marine and coastal landscape/seascape assessment

ASH also has extensive experience of the landscape/seascape assessment and siting of saltwater and freshwater finfish sites in sensitive locations on the west coast of Scotland. Landscape and seascape assessments have related to a variety of marine and coastal developments, ranging from reconfiguration / relocation of existing operations to the siting of completely new operations.

A recent coastal landscape/seascape assessment included a review of the client's operations on the entire length of Loch Sunart, looking at the reconfiguration and deletion of existing sites and proposals for new ones, together with changes in associated shore bases and operations. This project involved an assessment of the landscape capacity of the coastal hinterland in respect of the proposed changes together with an assessment of likely visual impacts.
