James Truscott is a Director with ASH design + assessment. James is a Chartered Landscape Architect and has obtained a broad range of experience over the past thirty years in both the public and private sectors in:
- Environmental impact assessment
- Landscape planning
- Landscape management
- Landscape design (from major infrastructure works to the design of intimate urban and garden spaces)
James has won, or been placed in, a number of design competitions and been the recipient of a number of design awards in his capacity of Team Leader and Designer. As an author, he is well known for his written contributions to "Country Life" and other magazines, and for his book "Private Gardens of Scotland".
James's specialisms include historic and designed landscapes, urban design and environmental impact assessment (landscape and visual). He has appeared as Expert Witness at a number of Public and Parliamentary Inquiries. He is also a past visiting tutor and lecturer in urban design at the University of Strathclyde, and history of landscape design at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh.
